Why did I want to create a board business game and why exactly YOU LEAD?
When I started earning my own money at sixteen, the situation in Bulgaria offered far too few opportunities for young people. There was no internet, no mobile phones, nothing to watch on TV – in fact, color TV sets had pretty recently come out. You were not allowed to travel freely abroad, and even if you had been, how could you afford it? So I decided to go into business – can you imagine? I’d rather not grumble and whine because I’d read it did no good. I decided it was all up to me. At the time, I studied economics at а high school of business and finance, and the school subjects exposed me to the works of Peter Drucker, Adam Smith, David Ogilvy, etc. I realized the times were always good for some and bad for others, but most importantly – we were free people, just like we are today, which is priceless. I started with a very humble capital, literally half the salary of my wonderful mother who would give anything up for her family. My journey so far has been an extremely difficult one, and I won’t be lying if I say that I’ve worked my butt off! I still have the occasional nightmare of getting up at 5 AM and having to go out in the total dark and biting cold to buy fruit and vegetables for the market stalls I managed.
Today, I organize seminars and training sessions and work as a business coach, meeting lots of people, and quite a few of them think that we live in a time of no opportunities, that markets are over-saturated and dominated by huge corporations, leaving no room for small businesses. Knowing how large a number of SMEs bankrupt only discourages these people further. They keep working for companies they don’t like, selling their time for money without finding any pleasure in their job or satisfaction in the way they spend every day and every hour of their lives.
I, of course, believe that the present day offers more opportunities than ever. I am convinced that our future is the projection of our thinking, so if a person is convinced that there is no bright future ahead of them, that’s probably the case. If they don’t see any opportunities, perhaps there won’t be any. But in fact, any healthy and free individual faces thousands of opportunities. The entire world is theirs to take, with all of its beauty and abundance.

I have to do more than at the moment
So I said to myself that I needed to do more – for business, for people. I wanted to infect them with the YOU LEAD message. To give them a direction and tools for achieving high business goals. That’s why I wrote the book YOU LEAD to complement Read the Signs and Business above the Red Line; the game YOU LEAD is another manifestation of the same message. The book and the game have no other common elements despite this motto, an extremely important foundation for success both in business and in life.
I know so many leaders and successful people, and all of them start rowing when the wind isn’t favorable. They all have a purpose and a destination. They all work hard and resolutely, and most importantly – they do something valuable and not amass wealth, profiting from the effort of others. They don’t build their own happiness upon other people’s misery. We all value money, but it never should be an end in itself.
I started working on the game in 2019. Many people told me they would like to play a business board game but found nothing interesting on offer. I had the entire concept ready in my mind, but carrying out the project took lots of time and resources, which I don’t regret in the slightest. I’ve always believed that I should make the highest quality products I could. I’ve always been after utility, emotion, user experience, and never felt bound to pursue competitive prices. That’s why the business game created by my team and me is not just innovative and dynamic, but also magnetic. The game board has 16 built-in magnetic sheets, and it contains 37 magnetic tiles and 60 magnetic tokens that function as Experts. I find it very annoying when, during a complex board game, a player accidentally rolls the dice over the board, messing everything up. What follows is the rearrangement of all components from memory, but things can rarely be put in their exact places. I knew I couldn’t make such a game. I couldn’t design something I don’t like and don’t approve of, so even risking a higher end price, we decided on top quality and satisfying experience.

Now the game is already out, and I feel extremely happy and grateful that we managed to put together a product with no equivalent worldwide. A game where franchise businesses are sold and a great number of sectors are not fixed on the board, which makes the gameplay different every time, depending on the players’ strategies. A game that boasts a university, a recruitment agency, a business training center, an accounting office, a law office, a business consulting agency, a real estate agency, an advertisement agency and many other businesses of different value. Experts of varying degrees of training can change the course of the game. Each player has to use their managerial skills and come up with their own strategy, but the winner is only one.
I believe the game can be of help as a team-building exercise, as well as brighten up family and friend gatherings. It will make many people reconsider what really matters in business, driving them to innovations and crucial business reforms. It will rekindle their emotions and zeal for victory, since I can see how everyday routine often smothers the desire for victory, development and business growth.
